Purpose and Scope
The Cademix™ Technical Language Certificate serves professionals, graduates and advanced students who require domain‑specific English (ELPT) or German (GLPT) for work, study or research in engineering, ICT, life‑sciences and related technical areas. It validates the holder’s ability to complete professional tasks confidently from CEFR level B1 up to C2 in their own discipline.
Course and Examination Overview
The course combines targeted language training with a personalised examination that reflects real workplace scenarios rather than everyday conversation.
- CEFR‑aligned, field‑specific tasks mapped to the candidate’s technical discipline (e.g. Electrical Engineering, Biotechnology)
- Four‑skill assessment covering Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking through job‑driven activities such as analysing specifications or presenting designs
- Personalised item bank that excludes general topics and draws solely on sector‑relevant content
- Extended observation window of at least four weeks using modules, projects, reports, workshops and oral discussions
- Secure administration on‑site or online with identity check and a unique Cademix Serial / Tracking Number for manual verification

Typical Use Cases
The certificate is designed for situations where evidence of sector‑specific language ability is required but a government‑recognised exam is not mandatory.
- Admission to short courses, micro‑credentials, MOOCs and summer schools taught in English or German
- Eligibility for internships, dual study programmes or vocational placements that request job‑related language proof
- Recruitment and promotion in private‑sector roles advertising “English / German B1–C1 required” without specifying an external exam brand
- Project staffing and tendering when contractors must show that team members meet language requirements for client or regulator audits
Legal Disclaimer – Immigration and Citizenship
The Cademix certificate does not replace state‑recognised exams for immigration, residence or naturalisation. Applicants pursuing these routes should:
- Check the exact language rules of the embassy, immigration office or ministry before booking any exam
- Present a certificate from an accepted provider (e.g. Goethe‑Institut, telc, ÖSD, ÖIF, IELTS, TOEFL, Cambridge English), or
- Obtain written confirmation from the authority that an alternative certificate will be accepted
Regulations change; always verify current requirements.
Equivalence Overview (ELPT only)
To help stakeholders interpret ELPT results, Cademix benchmarks levels against commonly known exams.
- C2 ≈ CEFR C2 · IELTS 7.5+ · Cambridge CPE · TOEFL iBT 110‑120
- C1 ≈ CEFR C1 · IELTS 6.5–7 · Cambridge CAE · TOEFL iBT 95‑110
- B2 ≈ CEFR B2 · IELTS 5–6 · Cambridge FCE · TOEFL iBT 65‑95
- B1 ≈ CEFR B1 · IELTS 3.5–4.5 · Cambridge PET · TOEFL iBT 40‑65
- A2 ≈ CEFR A2 · IELTS 3 · Cambridge KET · TOEFL iBT 30‑40
A corresponding equivalence list for GLPT is available on request.

Assessment Criteria and Process
The examination evaluates task performance rather than isolated grammar points.
- Listening: understanding domain‑specific discussions, briefings and instructions
- Reading: interpreting technical manuals, datasheets and academic abstracts
- Writing: composing short reports, emails and summaries using appropriate terminology
- Speaking: explaining concepts, discussing designs and participating in professional meetings
- Scoring: each skill is graded individually and then averaged to the overall CEFR level displayed on the certificate
